Making Music, Friends, and Memories

STUDENT INTERNS

Joshua Wortham--Trumpet

Joshua is 15 years old and in the 9th grade. He sits first chair in the Madison City Youth Orchestra and is in the competition band at James Clemens High School. He previously sat first chair in the Lionheart Christian Academy Band. Joshua has earned Super Ratings at Solo and Ensemble and made The North Alabama Private School Honor Band two years in a row.  In addition to trumpet, Joshua plays the piano, flute, and (is learning) violin. Joshua performed at Carnegie Hall in 2013, in a private concert with his brothers. When he is not playing music, he enjoys reading, baking (he has his own pastry business called "Peaceful Pastries and Sweets" on Facebook), art, traveling, and photography. He is also very interested in human rights.

Marielle Baumgartner, Violin

Marielle is an 12th grader at Bob Jones High School. She adores learning, reading, languages, and music. She is bicultural (German and American), and she spends most of her time on AP classes, orchestra, the Hudson Alpha LABs program, and school clubs and honor societies. She has played the piano since age five and the violin since age seven, and she greatly enjoys making music in a group. She joined MCYO in 2015 and loves its atmosphere!
