The Madison City Youth Orchestra was founded in 2013 by Madison Band Supply and Rebecca Wortham with a simple but powerful vision: to create a place where young musicians could develop their talents, build friendships, and experience the joy of making music together.
What began as a small community ensemble grew into a beloved program serving students and families throughout North Alabama. For more than thirteen years, MCYO has provided opportunities for young musicians to learn, perform, and grow in a supportive and encouraging environment.
Following the loss of Rebecca's mother, a devoted music educator and lifelong inspiration, the orchestra entered a period of pause. During that time, the mission of MCYO remained close to the hearts of the families and leaders who helped build it.
Today, Madison City Youth Orchestra is returning with renewed purpose, continuing its tradition of excellence while welcoming a new generation of musicians and families.
The heart of the organization remains unchanged:
Making music, friends, and memories.
